I settled on my beloved coffeemaker, and with each subsequent step I omitted some details and simplified as much as I could. But by the third level of abstraction I had to add a coffee droplet because the image was losing recognition. I also enlarged the droplet in step 4 because the meaning it carried grew more significant as the surrounding graphics became more abstract.

People mostly had a problem with the transition between the 2nd level of abstraction and the 3rd level of abstraction.
Many also suggested retaining the handle in Level 4 so the image bears more resemblance to a coffee pot.
